About

[Latest update: Aug, 2023]

My name is Arash Ashrafzadeh, and I'm a PhD student in computer science at Heriot-Watt university. I am a member of the Interaction Lab and supervised by Dr. Arash Eshghi and Dr. Julian Hough. Before joining Heriot-Watt, I received my BSc in Computer Science from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic).
In my PhD, I work on Natural Language Understanding (NLU) & Generation (NLG) in Dialogue Systems. More specifically, I am interested in Incremental Semantic Parsing and Incremental NLG from Symbolic Semantic Representations. For this end, I am using an inherently incremental grammar formalism called Dynamic Syntax (DS) and a symbolic semantic representation called Type Theory with Records (TTR). You can read more about my research here [under development].
If you would like to talk research, please feel free to contact me by email on arashmath16@gmail.com.
